Consuming Fire

A Weekly Accountability & Formation Group

Gather with others to sit in Scripture, speak the truth of your week out loud, and make a commitment you'll actually be held to — because a fire that isn't tended goes out, and a faith that isn't accountable grows cold.

What Is "Consuming Fire"?

Consuming Fire is a free weekly Zoom gathering hosted by As It Is In Heaven, where a small group meets to sit with Scripture through Lectio Divina, check in honestly about their week, and make short, specific commitments to God that the group holds them to.

The name comes from Hebrews 12:29 — "our God is a consuming fire." A fire doesn't just warm; it refines. This group exists to be that kind of refining space: warm enough to be honest in, hot enough to actually change something.

This Session Includes

  • An icebreaker and open time for prayer requests
  • Real check-ins — where you loved well this week, and where you missed the chance to
  • Lectio Divina through a shared Gospel passage
  • A 15-second commitment to God, spoken out loud for accountability
  • Ministry announcements and a closing prayer

Who This Is For

This free gathering is for people who want their faith to be lived out loud instead of kept private — who are tired of good intentions that never turn into follow-through. It's for those who...

  • Want a consistent rhythm of Scripture, prayer, and honesty in their week — not just on Sunday
  • Learn and grow best in community, saying things out loud to people who will check in on them
  • Have commitments to God they keep making and keep breaking, and want a group that actually holds them to it
  • Want a Christ-centered space that's warm, but not soft — one that expects something of them

What You'll Experience

Sit in the Word — Practice Lectio Divina together, slowing down in a Gospel passage instead of rushing past it.

Say it out loud — Share where you loved people this week and where you missed the opportunity to, in a room that won't flinch.

Make one commitment — In 15 seconds or less, commit to God to one specific thing you're working on.

Get held to it — The group tracks commitments week to week, so "I'll work on it" turns into an answer next Sunday.

Belong to something ongoing — This isn't a one-time teaching; it's a standing weekly rhythm you become part of.
